Layton Avenue

I had the joy of growing up in close proximity to my extended family. Every Sunday, my aunts and uncles, cousins, parents, sisters and brother, would gather at my grandparents' home for lunch. We'd wrap up church and meet at their home on Layton Avenue.

The meal would traditionally consist of fried chicken and was always accompanied with a canned soda. Around twenty of us would stand or sit with plates in hand. A few of us, not me, got to actually sit at the kitchen table. That was OK. I sat in the living room on the couch as my grandpa slept in his chair. As the meal wrapped up two things would then be made: Hershey's Cocoa Fudge and a bag of popcorn. My Aunt made the fudge. The popcorn was my job.

I love my family and I cherish the time I spent at that house. I wouldn't be who I am today without my time in that home. It was there that I developed a love for making popcorn for others. One of the purest expressions of where I came from manifests when I make popcorn for others.

Thank you for letting me make popcorn for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it.

The Popcorn

The Kettle Corn you eat from Layton Avenue starts with a great kernel. We tested over 20 different types of kernels before selecting the Medium White Hulless from "Amish Country Popcorn." This kernel always has a great crispy texture. It has a subtle flavor to it that really goes well with the salty and sweet aspects of kettle corn. All of our popcorn is popped in pure canola oil because of its neutral taste.

We really do take pride in what we choose to pop for you. We hope you'll love it.

All popcorn is prepared over an open fire in a 20-gallon cast iron kettle. This is truly small batch kettle popped popcorn.
